Dr. Victor Lee is an expert prosthodontist in Washington Heights who specializes in restoring fully functionally smiles with beautifully natural-looking results.

What Is a Prosthodontist?

A prosthodontist is a dental specialist with expertise in rebuilding and replacing damaged and missing teeth. They have several years of additional education in dental prosthetics like dentures, crowns and bridges, and dental implants.

Dr. Lee’s education includes a degree in Pharmacology, a four-year degree in dentistry from Columbia University, a Master’s degree in Dental Education, and a three-year postdoctoral program in Prosthodontics from Columbia University.

What Is the Difference Between a Prosthodontist and a Restoration Dentist?

Both restoration dentists and prosthodontists make restorations like crowns, bridges, and dentures. Many restoration dentists are highly skilled in creating beautiful, functional dental prosthetics. However, if you’re dealing with missing teeth, damaged dental work, or other complex dental issues, prosthodontic care could be the solution you need.

Aside from creating prosthetics that blend in with your natural smile, a prosthodontist has advanced expertise in the physics involved in biting and chewing. This allows them to create restorations with ideal balance and harmony, which can protect your teeth, gums, and jaw health over the long term.

Why See a Prosthodontist vs. a General Dentist?

This can be a tough decision to make. In general, any time you’re struggling with functional difficulties or have complex restorative dentistry needs, you may be better off seeing a prosthodontist. These issues include:

  • Struggling to chew food comfortably
  • Ongoing jaw pain caused by teeth grinding during sleep or stress
  • Teeth that are chipped, cracked, or stained
  • One or more teeth are missing
  • Experienced trauma or injury to your teeth or mouth
  • Recovering from dental issues related to cancer treatments or other illnesses
  • Feeling unhappy with the look of your teeth or smile

At Fort Washington Dental Associates, our team provides an integrated approach with in-house collaboration between general dentists, orthodontist, and periodontist to provide seamless, high-quality care, so you can get everything you need in one convenient location.

Check Out Our Smile Success Stories

Dr. Lee offers expertise with a proven track record for success. Here are a few examples of how we’ve given our patients’ smiles a second chance.

From Broken Teeth to Renewed Confidence

This patient had been struggling with multiple missing teeth, as well as teeth that were broken at the gumline, making them impossible to save. Using several strategically-placed dental implant posts, we created a permanently fixed denture to replace his upper arch of teeth while restoring lower teeth with dental crowns to create a balanced and functional bite.

This patient preferred a smile that wasn’t too white, so we provided a darker shade that matched his natural tooth shade. He was very happy with the result and can now smile confidently and eat comfortably again!

Reversing Years of Wear and Tear

This patient came to us with one missing front tooth, a damaged implant crown, failing dental work, and severely worn-down enamel. These types of issues can make it hard to bite and chew normally and lead to severe TMJ discomfort from an imbalanced bite.

A single dental implant replaced his missing front tooth, and we rebuilt his teeth with dental crowns. This allowed us to restore his normal bite, which also restored his normal facial contours and relieved strain on the jaw joints, improving function and appearance.

A Surgery-Free Solution

This patient had multiple missing teeth, and periodontal disease affected the stability of many of their remaining teeth. However, they were looking for a non-surgical option to replace missing teeth. Dr. Lee created a partial denture to restore a complete smile while keeping as many of their natural teeth intact as possible.

As a prosthodontist, Dr. Lee specializes in creating comfortable, functional, natural-looking dentures. Our streamlined denture system ensures you can enjoy your new smile without the wait.
